  • The 电工车间 maintains, modifies and improves the campus electrical and lighting systems in addition to these responsibilities:

    - Installs new lights and wall receptacles

    - Replaces burned out lamps in permanent lighting fixtures

    - Resets tripped circuit breakers

    - Maintains the campus clock system

    - Responds to power outages

    - Troubleshoots electrical problems

    - Maintains fire alarm equipment

• Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning

  • The HVAC Shop employs Refrigeration Mechanics, Building Service Engineers, and Facilities 工人.

    This group of skilled craftsmen oversees the daily management of the campus 建筑s and maintains the air temperature and quality in the 建筑 interiors. 空气温度 in the classrooms is maintained at 68° to 78° from 7:00 a.m. 到12:00 a.m.

    The shop is responsible for energy management programs related to the use of major equipment, makes major and minor repairs to facilities and performs preventive maintenance.

  • The 锁店 maintains the campus key inventory and tracking system of key issuance and provides service for hundreds of door locks, cabinets, files, and padlocks; in addition, the lock shop handles:

    - Manual, keyless, and computerized access control systems

    - Locking systems design, remodel, and renovation

    - Door closure, hardware installation, maintenance, and repair

    - Key cutting for manual locking systems

    - Programming cards for keyless systems

    - Keyless entry system programming

    - Re-keying and lock changing

  • The 管道商店 maintains and repairs the campus water system in addition to the 后:

    - Main water line and reclaimed water system lines and valves

    - Maintain backflow prevention equipment

    - Assist contractors with hooking-up main water, gas, or sewer lines

    - Rough-in plumbing work, fixture-setting and trim, flush valve and traps repair, 燃气管道维修

    - Fix leaking faucets, broken pipes, and plugged drain lines

• Elevators and Conveying Services

  • This department oversees the permitting, installation, upgrading, maintenance and inspection of all elevator and conveying equipment on campus.

• Building Represenatives' Roles

  • A Building Representative (BR) is the main communication conduit between FDO and 建筑 居住者. BR’s are appointed by their respective college/department/division leadership and are responsible for relaying information from FDO to appropriate 建筑 居住者 as well as providing a central point of contact for students or staff wishing to report 楼宇问题向民政事务处汇报. 

• FDO Customer Service Department

  • FDO staffs its service desk from 8:00 a.m. 至下午5时.m., Mondays through Fridays, excluding university holidays, which can be reached by calling (408) 924-1990.

    The service desk receives and issues facility-related communications on campus and dispatches the appropriate personnel to respond. • Communication of Facility Shutdowns

  • The FDO service desk will issue communication to Building Represenatives about planned or emergency utility shutdowns as well as provide updates on major repairs due to system malfunction or failure. The BRs should forward these communications to the appropriate 建筑 居住者 and remain in contact with FDO for all updates.

  • Emergencies are defined as; an immediate threat to life/safety, loss of utilities, 建筑 system failure, and immediate threat of property damage; as related to the 建筑. Building Represenatives should be the primary point of contact for their division/college/department to FDO about emergencies.
